Hello, Digital Blue. What can you tell us
about yourselves?

Digital Blue evolved from the Intel Play
range of technology toys. We now create
education and entertainment for kids and
teens, aiming to delight young people with
products that merge technology with
traditional play and learning. We offer the
freedom to create, play and learn about
technology without always being restricted
to the usual PC or videogame console fare.

What products do you specialise in? Are
these toys for everyone?
A
Digital Blue caters to older kids and
‘tweens’, ages 8-12, as well as teenagers
who experience interactive technology as
an everyday part of their lives. Although
many adults are just as fascinated by the
potential of our ‘products’.

Your recently launched a new version of the
Digital Movie Creator. Tell us about it…
A
Digital Movie Creator 3.0 is really cool and
fun, actually. It lets kids discover their ‘inner
Spielberg’ and direct movies of their very
own. They can shoot scenes indoors or
outdoors and then download the video,
stills and audio to a PC. Once transferred,
the movie can be edited and special
effects, music, animation and even titles
and credits added. The 3.0 release has a
few improvements over earlier versions,
including a higher resolution and a live
preview feature. Using the SD memory slot,
you can also get up to two hours of
recording time. And kids can now email
their magnum opus to family and friends!

Tell us a bit about the new Mixman
LoopStudio and MP3 Producer…
A
Mixman LoopStudio and MP3 Producer lets
you be the DJ, the musician, the producer –
and the whole studio! Mixman’s remix and
beat-match engine provides the power and
flexibility to make great sounds and
develop your own live performance style.
And, of course, you also gain an insight into
the music itself, from rhythm to production
techniques. But you don’t need to be an
expert to pick it up and get started. With
more than 1,000 loops and 5,000 samples,
it’ll get any young DJ off the ground with
the best in remixing technology.

What’s next for Digital Blue?

The Christmas period is always a key
period for Digital Blue, with our product
range making ideal gifts from parents
looking for something different for their
tech-savvy and ever-demanding kids.
Children love Digital Blue as the kit is fun,
while parents love Digital Blue because
they can see that is also extremely creative
and educational.
