Q
Hello Avanquest. What are your top releases
for the rest of the year?
A
Q4 is an important time for us and is
always going to be highly competitive. In
response we have some great titles that
compete very well in their specific niches
that are feature-rich and have attractive
price points for the retailer.
First up, we have Web Easy
Professional 7; then we have Trend Micro’s
new 2008 range, including the new Internet
Security Pro. TurboCAD comes next, which
is due in November. We also have the new
version of Greeting Card Factory from Nova
Development, which promises to be a
massive seller for Christmas. Finally,
Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac is still going
incredibly strong.
Q
Aren’t you entering a crowded market with
web publishing and security products?
A
Web Easy Pro has always been a bestseller.
Combining ease of use with
comprehensive and powerful web
authoring tools including e-commerce,
publishing and multimedia options, you’ll
struggle to find better product at the price
point of £39.99.
Trend Micro is relatively new to UK
retail though it does have a great pedigree
and a solid new range of titles. AntiVirus &
AntiSpy 2008 is ideal for occasional PC
users; Internet Security 2008 fully protects
the home network and online experience;
Internet Security Pro 2008 includes
enhanced identity theft and transaction
protection and remote security
management – perfect for when you’re on
the move.
Q
Are you concerned now that VMWare has
moved into the Mac retail market?
A
Not at all – competition is always good.
Parallels Desktop, the software that lets
you run Windows, Linux and more side-byside,
has been established for over a year
and still continues to win awards
worldwide. There’s a free update out with
new features and improvements in
Coherence, the virtualisation engine, and
there’s lots more to come. It’s a rapidly
growing market and we’re looking forward
to exhibiting at Mac Expo in October with
our Mac range and maybe coming away
with another award!
Q
What’s next for Avanquest?
A
It has been a very busy year or so for
Avanquest in the UK and worldwide with a
series of acquisitions that are putting us on
the main stage of global software
publishing. Certainly, in the UK. this has
meant a certain amount of product
rationalisation to ensure that we are
offering the best products, and secondly it
has meant business integration to ensure
that our logistics and customer service
quality are up to scratch. We are now also
focusing more resources on our own range
of IP products.
