This brand new and innovative software will help you increasing your system's performance in the short term by disabling temporarily unnecessary background programs and services. Your hard drive will be optimized by an intelligent defrag module and all settings of your Internet connection are automatically optimised by AppBooster´s Internet boosters in order to reduce lags and increase download and surfing speed. How does AppBooster work? Booster Modes Any program running in the background, every process and every service occupies system resources in terms of CPU time and memory. Messages and pop-ups of applications are always annoying in wrong moments and can even cause game crashes. Everyone´s experience is, in a tense gaming situation suddenly a message pops up: "An update is available ..", the game disappears in the background, Windows desktop appears and your desperate try to return to the game leads to a game crash and at least one point for your opponent. AppBooster puts an end by disabling automatically not required processes, services and features. Your PC is working in booster mode. The highlight of this: AppBooster will not change system settings permanently, i.e. no settings in your Windows registry will be modified, all changes are temporary and will be undone either at the end of the booster mode or at the latest after the restart of your computer. AppBooster is absolutely safe and can nothing will be optimized in pieces, like some other improvement programs are doing. How does AppBooster find out which features are needed? AppBooster contains a vast and constantly updated database of information on processes and services and combines them into logical categories. You decide which function category keep untouched by AppBooster. E.g. you can decide if support for printers or mobile phones is required, but must not consider in detail which services and processes are affected. Of course advanced users are free to see in detail which processes and services are included in particular function categories. Since some decisions may depend on intended purpose, these configurations are stored in "booster profiles". Required profiles can be activated by using the Windows Sidebar gadget which is included or by clicking on the small information icon in your taskbar. Disk defragmentation (only in PRO version) Performance, such as boot processes of applications or working with applications, loading of game data, operations that perform many read / write to disk (eg for creating temporary files) mainly depend on the optimization of your harddisk. In ideal state, all files are arranged perfectly on your hard disk: files that you often use are located in the beginning of the disk (where reading and writing can take place very quickly), all other files are stored on the slower end of your disk. Files are written to clusters, these can be stored randomly on your hard drive, but ideally all blocks are fitted in series, so read/write heads get the data quickly. This increases speed and protects the mechanical hard drive. If these blocks are not stored in a row you are talking about fragmentation of a file. Defrag, which is contained in AppBooster) rearranges files on your hard drive (defragmentation), for perfect access speed! Internet Booster (PRO version only) Internet Booster automatically optimizes settings of your Internet connection to reduce ping times and lags and speed up loading of Web pages. Especially in fast online games optimized settings can be crucial for success. Defragmentation The startup process for loading game data or working with applications that perform numerous write/read operations on the hard disk (e.g. for creating temporary files) basically depends on optimizing the hard disk. In the ideal scenario, all the files will be arranged in perfect order on your hard disk. This means that files that you often need are located at the start of the disk (where read and write operations can be performed especially quickly), while the other files are stored at the slower end of the disk. Files are written in blocks (allocation units/clusters), which can be distributed in any manner on the hard disk. Ideally, all the blocks are next to each other so that the disk’s read/write head does not have to cover the distance of a marathon to access the data. This increases the speed and goes easy on the hard disk’s mechanical components. If these blocks are not beside each other, a file is described as fragmented. AppBooster sorts out this fragmentation (defragmentation) and rearranges the files on the hard disk to achieve the ideal access speed. Flash-memory based storage media (e.g. SSD drives) USB sticks, memory cards and the latest SSD drives do not operate with magnetic storage disks and read/write heads, and access speed is not dependent on a file’s memory location/fragmentation. Defragmentation/optimization is not advisable in this case and can even have an adverse effect on the storage medium’s service life as Flash memory only allows a limited number of read/write cycles. Internet Booster Have you always felt that it was unfair that your opponent in an online game always seemed to know slightly in advance what was going to happen next? You probably suspected that it was more often to do with hacking, scams and cheats. However, just compare the “latency”, i.e. the delay with which data packets reach you after making a request, compared with that for your opponent. Lots of games offer you relevant options for displaying “latency/ping”. The higher the latency (in milliseconds), the more slowly the game runs. When latency rates are particularly high, you notice "lags", which are renowned in gaming circles. In other words, the game freezes briefly when it is waiting for a response from the game server. Incorrect system parameters (wrong buffer sizes, response time limits, etc.) are often the cause of this, with the provider being at fault in some cases. However, before you get into an argument with your provider, we recommend using the Internet Booster module. |
