This innovative new software can help you recover data, files, pictures, documents and other items that are important and dear to you, which seem to have been deleted and lost. If you delete a file, under Windows this is generally moved to the Recycle Bin and can be restored from there. If an application deletes a file or you delete a file while pressing down the Shift key, it is not moved to the Windows Recycle Bin and is initially lost. The same applies if you delete a photo directly on a memory card using your digital camera’s delete function. However, in all the cases just mentioned, the data can be recovered as the files are only marked as being deleted. The disk space they take up is made available again, but they are not overwritten. As long as the memory area has not been overwritten by new files and write operations, the data can be recovered. How does DataRescue help me recover my data? DataRescue scans through the file system of all Windows-readable storage media, such as hard disks, USB sticks, memory cards, storage cards, etc. that use the NTFS or FAT file system. The program directly accesses the storage medium and searches for entries that are marked as deleted. Sophisticated analysis functions ensure that these entries are scanned as completely as possible and found. The file system information is then used to identify memory areas that have been used by the deleted file, which are extracted and saved in a new file. To help you find again the data you want more quickly, DataRescue provides a host of search functions, tree-views and filter functions. Reliable Data Recovery Photo memories, Wedding, Holiday or Baby's first steps lost? The digital age has many advantages but also comes with risks. Just a careless click and many years of memories disappear apparently unrecoverably. However appsmaker DataRescuePro is your knight in shining armour it restores accidentally deleted or lost photos on any kind of storage device i.e. hard disks, digital cameras, usb sticks and memory cards. Document or Presentation lost? appsmaker DataRescuePro recovers files even if they are no longer listed in your Recycle Bin. Thanks to integrated preview for most file formats i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TXT, PDF, JPG, BMP, AVI, MP3 (and many others) plus comprehensive search function allows fast and easy searching to recover your files. Scan Drive DataRescue supports NTFS and FAT (FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32)-formatted drives. However, DataRescue assumes that the storage medium can basically still be read and has not been formatted yet. Choose a storage medium from the list of media. If you select a FAT storage medium, you are offered an additional option of a FAT DeepScan. If you check this option, every sector of the disk is scanned for directory entries, which means information about files and directories. You should choose this option if you have not obtained any results previously using the normal scan function. Overview Navigation bar You can navigate through the files of the drive you have selected in the left navigation bar. Next to the drive folder is also the item All deleted Files, which provides rapid access to all the deleted files that have been found, as well as direct access to the Recycle Bin (this may be useful in the case that a file might still be in the Recycle Bin), and a category entitled Unknown Files and Folders. This category contains files and folders that either could not be allocated a filename any longer or whose original folders could no longer be found. If you want to have a larger overview, you can display and hide the navigation bar by clicking on the yellow Navigation tab. Below the folder list are the selection buttons Files and Search Results. They allow you to toggle between the file list from the folder selected in the folder list and the search results for the last search. File list and Preview All the entries for the selected folder or all the search results are displayed in the file list. You can sort the list by clicking on the column headings. In addition to the file list, there is also a file preview section. This provides a preview of many well-known file types, provided that the file is still of good enough quality and not too much data in the file has been overwritten. If a preview cannot be shown for a file, a hex editor appears, which presents the files content in hexadecimal form. You can select parts of the file using the hex editor and copy them to the clipboard by clicking on the Copy button in the top ribbon, or by clicking on Save to save it as a new file. This is particularly suitable for recovering corrupted files as it allows you to recover at least parts of the data manually. Search deleted files You can, of course, navigate manually via the folder list to the folder where the original files were stored. However, if you don’t know in which folder the original files were stored, you can use the extensive search function. How to find deleted files 1. Indicate the folder you want to scan The folder that is currently highlighted in the folder list is selected by default. You can select another folder by clicking on Browse. If you are sure that the file you are looking for is actually deleted, you can select the "All deleted Files" folder. If you are not 100% sure whether the file has actually been deleted, or whether it was perhaps simply moved accidentally to the wrong folder, select the drive folder (e.g. C:). To scan all the subfolders (recommended) as well, check the relevant box. 2. Enter a searchmask Enter here parts of the filename. You can use the wildcard "*". Valid masks include, for instance, "*.jpg", "Holiday*.jpg", etc. If you don’t know which mask you need to enter here, click on Add File types. A list of known file types is displayed, split into categories. Activate the files types you want in order to apply them in the mask input field. 3. Define the date and size If you want to restrict your search, you can define a filter for the date and file size. First check the box next to the date or size option. 4. Configure an attribute filter You can limit the search to files with particular features. To activate a filter for a file attribute, check the box so that it is no longer colored in. The filter is now activated. If you check the box, the file MUST have the selected attribute for it to be displayed. If you don't check the box, the file DOES NOT have this attribute. If you want to deactivate the attribute filter, click the box until it is colored in again (neutral status). 5. Additional options You can use the selection box to decide once again whether you want to scan only deleted files, only undeleted files or all file types. The quality slider indicates what percentage of the file should not yet be overwritten so that it can be listed in the search results. This allows you to restrict your search to files which contain data that is still usable and recoverable. |
