Technology Focus - Second in Series highlights Green IT solutions from Red Hat, Solarwinds, Acronis and Kerio
Enfield, London, 2nd March 2009, Interactive Ideas, one of the UK's leading value-added Software and Technology distributors has announced the second in its monthly focus on the trend in technologies from the Software companies we represent - 'Green IT'.
Irrespective of whether you believe, or doubt, the claims made by a wide variety of organisations about the state of our natural world in relation to Global Warming, one fact is very clear: Organisations of all sizes in all Markets across the World are becoming more and more concerned about their own "carbon footprint" and how to reduce it.
Michael Breeze, Interactive Ideas Marketing Director stated, "The IT industry has a massive responsibility now, more than ever, to develop ways in which technology can make a real contribution towards reducing the level of raw materials consumed in the manufacture of IT equipment and reducing the amount of electricity used during IT operations. It is also important to develop an infrastructure that will reduce the amount of redundant IT equipment that might otherwise find its way into Landfill sites." He continued, "Interactive Ideas has forged strong relationships with a number of different software companies that are committed to developing products that reflect the increasing responsibility that Resellers and their customers face in achieving these goals."
As mentioned in last month's serialisation, Virtualisation is one process that will assist hugely in reducing CO2 emissions through the reduction of the number of servers in use within an organisation. There are, however, other ways to assist in meeting these targets, and Interactive Ideas will continue to expand its product database reflect this and other trends in the IT Industry. This month Interactive Ideas focus on GREEN IT and how the solutions some of our vendors provide to support a Green Solution Sale.
