Interactive Ideas announced today that www.LinuxVAR.net has been nominated for the UK Linux & Open Source Awards in the Best Linux/Open Source Marketing Campaign category. www.LinuxVAR.net is vying with Ubuntu ShipIT and LUG Radio Live marketing campaigns. Both are global names in the Linux industry. The awards take place at a gala dinner at the Millennium Gloucester hotel, Kensington on Wednesday 25th October 2006 and will be hosted by BBC™s Top Gear Stig (aka Perry McCarthy). Now in their fourth successive year the UK Linux & Open Source Awards recognise the innovation, application and excellence in Linux and Open Source. The two forms of awards this year are firstly nominated by readers of LinuxUser and Developer, then short-listed and awarded by the panel of judges, and secondly nominated and awarded by the votes that the readers of LinuxUser and Developer place. www.LinuxVAR.net is an information website which explains Linux in terms the businessman can understand and more importantly shows them how to implement it in their business. The directory lists 128 Value Added Resellers that have proven themselves in designing, implementing and supporting off the shelf and bespoke Linux business solutions. Many Linux sites focus on the technical issues and use technical language, which is not understood or relevant to the businessman. Linux has grown up, is a proven and easily deployed alternative to Windows Desktop and Server. This fact gets overshadowed in the mostly technical discussions about Linux. www.LinuxVAR.net includes new tools to help resellers communicate with their existing customers and attract new customers. These tools are: Blogs, Forums and Clubs. LinuxVAR will provide a single source for Linux business and technical news. LinuxVAR displays news feeds from key websites and hosts business level discussions with resellers, customers and vendors. The website has received 64,000 hits in October alone, of which 892 were unique. www.LinuxVAR.net will be at the LinuxWorld 2006 show (Stand A23) on the 25th and 26th October recruiting Value Added Resellers. Linux Distribution vendors are now targeting the small and medium business sectors. www.LinuxVAR.net provides them with a dedicated channel to share support and sales materials with resellers to achieve sales targets. Michael Trup, Interactive Ideas Managing Director commented "We are delighted that www.LinuxVAR.net has been nominated for this award, this further demonstrates our ability to add value to the leading Linux companies we represent and supports our position as the leading Linux distributor in the UK". The www.LinuxVAR.net directory matches Linux services resellers with companies demanding these skills throughout the UK. |
